The Women in Lighting Canada Kickoff Event marks the beginning of a collective journey to amplify women’s voices in the lighting industry. Rooted in the global Women in Lighting movement, this gathering invites designers, artists, advocates, students, and light enthusiasts to come together, share experiences, and add their perspective to a growing community.

Our purpose is simple yet powerful: to encourage women to speak out, support one another, and highlight what needs to change in our profession. Through warm light, shadow, and contrast, we celebrate creativity while fostering dialogue about equity and representation. This event is not only a launch but a call to action, a chance to connect, inspire, and ignite new ideas.

"Our three panelists shared perspectives on topics that many of us have experienced in one way or another, and the outcome was incredibly meaningful.

Thank you very much to our panelists Christina Sideris, Nataly Safir, and Tracy Ho, RDI, IDC, who brought such valuable points of view to the conversation. An immense thank you to Ashley Spafford and Olivia Galang who kept the event organized and on time. Thank you as well to Harry Callaghan and Standard Shop for providing such an inspiring venue for this event, and especially to Nazanin Bahmani and formalighting, who took care of even the most minimal detail of our event from beginning to end.

This movement reminds us of the importance of community, empathy, and self-confidence for all women. If you are a woman or a woman-identifying individual, and you have something to do with light… this is your place and your community."
