Light writes the story of great spaces. Lighting is more than a service it is a profession capable of influencing experiences and changing lives. Through collaboration and advocacy my vision is to create a platform for a vibrant lighting community in Zimbabwe by bringing together lighting professionals,designers, architects, engineers and other built environment specialists to inspire innovation and elevate industry standards fostering meaningful partnerships and build a thriving community.

Each student selected one art project from the book and investigated the artist’s intentions, the technology involved, and the impact the work creates in space and perception.

As a next step, students translated what they considered the most distinct light-related characteristic of the artwork into their own lanterns (15 × 15 × 15 cm cardboard boxes).

Using any materials and light sources at hand, they recreated the chosen light qualities and their relation to space in their own interpretations.

In this booklet, you will find both the students’ lanterns as outcomes and the original projects that served as inspiration.
